Weekend Excitement

It's only been, what, like 4 days since the last post? Therefore this one won't be very long. A few exciting things to report, though!

On Saturday afternoon Caroline took me along to the city-wide "braderie", or mega-huge street clearance sale! (Juliette was busy writing a big, fancy English test, which we know she pwned!) The streets were packed with vendors, not to mention milling customers! We stopped several times to admire the collections of scarves and sparkly jewelry, (shiny!) but alas, we didn't buy anything other than consumable goods. My new addiction? Chichis... Also known as churros! Basically sugar-sprinkled deep-fried Twinkies without the cream.

Caroline sporting our diabetes-in-a-cup. SO GOOD.

Bonjour Gudule!
Also, on Saturday night we welcomed the awakening of Juliette's tortoise Gudule! (She'd been hibernating all winter in a box.) After we let her out, she was anxious to get moving at 10cm/hour. (Exaggeration? Nah.) Even after 3 months of sleeping her appetite wasn't quite quick-started yet, despite being offered multiple amounts of lettuce. Currently she's outside in her wire rabbit-pen, complete with green material to protect against pesky birds. I'd say she looks pretty happy, wouldn't you?

On Sunday we were visited by Marie's friends for lunch, and using the Canadian smoked salmon I'd brought along, we crafted some pretty nifty appetizers! Recipes are for chumps... As a bonus, they even tasted good!

What professional whipped these up?
After lunch we drove to Juliette's horse riding club to watch a jumping competition, and went for a walk in the park. (I enjoyed jumping in puddles.)

That's the weekend for ya! Juliette tells me we're going to Paris one of the first weeks of April, which is coming up SOON. So excited, hopefully my French will have improved by far by then! Stay tuned for pictures and fun stuff!
Bisous, Lia

SIDE NOTE: I've almost reached my photo upload limit on Flickr, so there will be less photos there, and more in blog posts/Facebook. (To family members, you can always pester Craig to look at them ;) )
